Vimeo Upload Tutorial

Ok here is the tutorial for how to upload videos to Vimeo.

1) Go here Vimeo LogIn

Input the user name and password I sent you.

This will bring up this page

tutorial1

2) Use the row of links at the top (Me, Videos, Create…) to access your account.

Click Videos, you will see this

tutorial2

One of the nice things is you can see the stats on your videos, look at the right lower section. This shows the number of times your videos are watched. For more expanded stats, click “+ See full statistics”

3) To upload a video, click the big blue “Upload a Video” button. This will bring up

tutorial3

You are currently on a “Vimeo Plus” account, which I’m paying for, that gives you a 5gig max upload a week. You can see your download amount on that page.

4) To upload, click the “Choose a video to upload” button. This will open your computer and let you pick a video.

Once you have selected one, you will see this

tutorial4

The video will begin uploading. Depending on the size it may take a few minutes. It may freeze up once it uploads. If it does that, click “Done, Go To Video”. From there you can access all of the pages for the video information. I find its easiest to just wait til it uploads.

5) Once it has uploaded and you go to the video you should see this

tutorial5

Begin by click the “Settings” button. You will see

tutorial6

You will default to the “Basic Info” page. From there you can add title and a description. Here are some hints for settings to keep common on all videos

- I’ve had difficulty selecting a Language. The drop down menu won’t stay still, lol. You can select English or leave it, it won’t effect the video since we’re keeping them private.

- I haven’t been selecting a “Category” for the videos yet, but I have been adding “Tag”, such as “littleredbunny”, “webcam”, “redhead”, then depending on the video “cammingcon”, “avnawards”, etc. You can add as you like but that is primarily for the search engines, and again we’re keeping these videos private.

- “Content Rating”: If the video has no nudity, like the interviews then I have been selecting “All audiences”. If it is of a webcam show, or shows Bunny in sexy outfits, I’ve been selecting “Mature”, then “Nudity”. Vimeo allows non-sexual and non-explicit nudity so as long as we aren’t showing too much I think we can be ok.

- “Credit”: I currently use either “starring” or “interviewed” for Bunny. Where there is another star or an interviewer I add their names too.

- The nice thing about Vimeo is we can chose and upload the thumbnail that is displayed.

Once you have done everything click “Save Changes”.

In a few instances I’ve had the menu freeze. It seems to save but not reboot. You can scroll back up and select “Privacy”, then click back to “Basic” and check that the changes have been saved.

6) Click “Privacy Settings”, you will see

tutorial7

The important setting here are:

- “Who can watch this video?”, select “Hide this video from Vimeo.com”

- “Where can this video be embedded?”, select “Only on sites I choose”, then you will need to add “http://www.littleredbunny.com/”. I have not added either Bunny’s Twitter feed or Facebook page. If she thinks she might want to post the videos there, let me know and I’ll add the urls to the other videos.

- “Who can comment on this video?”, select “Anyone”. I don’t see why we can let anyone comment.

- “What can people do with this video?”, uncheck both options, “Download the video” and “Add to their collections”.

Now Save Changes.

7) I don’t use the “Collections” tab, we don’t seem to need it.

8) Click “Embed” and you will see

tutorial8

(I’ve scrolled down a bit to high light the options)

Click the down arrow in the “Preset” menu at the top should give you the “red” option. Click that and save the changes. I’ve found it doesn’t seem to reboot the page, so I click another tab and come back. The new setting should be there and they are:

- Let user decide on “Player Preferences”. I don’t see it affecting use no matter what we chose there.

- Check “Always use a specific color” and then use “#00adef” as the color code.

- Then on check “Show Like button”, “Show Scaling button”, “Show Fullscreen button”, “Show Play bar” with “Volume control” but not “Vimeo logo”.

- Under “Outro”, What happens after someone watches your video?” select “Show, Beginning”, this resets the video to the start.

- I haven’t bothered with “Default this video to HD when embedded”, leave it unchecked.

Click Save Changes.

9) Once you have done all that, from this page click “Get Embed Codes” at the top right of the video window. You will see this

tutorial9

The codes are already highlighted, just hit “Control + C” to copy.

10- To delete a video, go back to “Basic” info page. Scroll down til you see this

tutorial10

I will be deleting this video, since it was just an example. When you click “delete this video”, this page will appear

tutorial11

From here you can replace the video with a better copy or delete it.

That is how to upload and display a video. Let me know if you have questions.
